About Peace College

Peace College is a small liberal arts women's college located in downtown Raleigh, the capital city and the 2nd largest city of the state of North Carolina, USA, as well as the county seat of Wake County, having a population estimated at a number of more than 405 000 inhabitants (2009), which makes it one of the fastest growing cities in the United States, including, the 45th largest city in USA.

Peace was established in 1857, by prominent men within the Presbyterian Synod of North Carolina, first starting as Peace Institute. It is one of the oldest institutions of higher education for women in the United States and the second-oldest in the state, predated only by Salem College (the first school for girls in the United States, founded in 1772).

Peace College offers its students `17 majors, an innovative teacher education program and a wide variety of minor options`, including a Degree Completion program, in which students attend class just one night a week, as well as `strong Honors and International Studies programs`.

Athletics

Peace's athletic teams are known as the Peace Pacers and they compete in NCAA Division III. Their distinctive colors are green and white.
